What we're learning the week of November 29th - December 3rd

In Language Arts this week, we will be learning about verbs. We will read some stories about verbs and even play "verb" charades. The students will be expected to know what a verb is and be able to identify it in a sentence. We will also be reading many versions of gingerbread stories this week in honor of making our gingerbread houses this coming Friday. For example, we'll be reading......The Gingerbread Boy, The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Cowboy, The Gingerbread Girl, and The Gingerbread Baby.....just to name a few. This is such a fun unit of reading for the students!

Math: This week we will work on counting coins! Our focus this week is with pennies, nickels, and dimes. You may practice this with some of the change in your purse or pocket!

Later in the week we will start our geometry unit. We will discuss different shapes, and look at plane figures and three-dimensional figures. Some of the vocabulary words we will learn are: edges, vertices, sphere, cube, cylinder, cube, pyramid, rectangular prism, and triangular prism. See if you can find some of these shapes around your house!

Science: This week in science we will explore forces and magnets.

Social Studies: This week we will continue our study of Government by looking closer at the election process. Our key vocabulary words this week are: vote, election, ballot, and campaign.

Thanksgiving Feast

We had a fabulous Thanksgiving Feast last Friday! Here are some pictures from the day. Much thanks to everyone for sending the items we needed to help make our feast a success. Also, thank you to those who came and helped prepare and serve the feast. The students had a great time and everything was delicious! We all have so much to be thankful for!
