Friday was Rodeo/Western day in 2nd grade at Kaufman! The students had a blast rotating through all of the different western stations. You'll have to ask them what their favorite station was! We finished the day off with a delicious chili snack. A perfect ending to a perfect Rodeo/Western day! Here's some pictures we captured throughout the day of our little cowgirls and cowboys - enjoy!
Thank you for taking time to visit our class blog. I will share pictures and exciting news going on in our classrooms here. It's an easy way to share with parents, grandparents, family and friends how much fun we are having as we learn here at Kaufman Elementary! Feel free to leave a comment and visit again soon!

We had a fantastic play that we performed called Go Fish! It was about a shark who wanted some friends that weren't sharks, but rather, other sea creatures from the ocean. We had fish, seahorses, jellyfish, seaweed, octopus and more! Here are a few shots of our performers-

Well, it's official! We have adopted the American Eagle, Liberty, from The Houston Zoo. The paperwork came in the mail this week and we have enjoyed reading about this wonderful creature. It is good to know that our donation is going to help take care of Liberty and we look forward to seeing her at the zoo in March!
We have been very busy in 2nd grade learning about dinosaurs and fossils within the last week. The students got to research the dinosaur of their choice in class and create an illustration showing that dinosaur living in it's time period (ex. Jurassic). The students really enjoyed this unit of learning and here are some examples of their completed work.
The students also enjoyed learning about fossils and how they are formed. Here's a display of some of their hard work from the past couple of weeks.
Here's the paleontologist as they go on a "walk" through the stages of a fossil being formed. This was a neat way for the students to learn and understand each step of the process.

Our visit with Laurie Keller!
Today we had a very special visit from guest author/illustrator, Laurie Keller. Each grade level had their own presentation and our 2nd graders were very attentive listeners!
She showed us some of her books that are our favorites here at Kaufman! The students have been learning about these whenever they visit the library on Wednesdays.
